A unique building, thanks to its prestigious historical façade, becomes ultra-contemporary thanks to a cutting-edge project that combines tradition and the future. The Giardini del Corso were born in a building that is an architectural jewel of the early twentieth century, which shines again in the oldest part of the city of Cremona, among prestigious streets and historic buildings, for a living experience of exclusivity and comfort. The Corso Gardens are an innovative and unique project for the city, which originally combines the need for privacy with the need to enhance a unique context, with the aim of creating a peculiar and welcoming living experience. The internal courtyard is transformed into a spectacular garden wall unit that creates an enveloping and healthy environment: all the beauty of greenery right in the center. The project sees a functional reconfiguration of the property, through the insertion of garages on the ground and basement floors, with a consequent reduction of the surfaces intended for retail in favor of new parking spaces, as well as the restoration of the original entrance along Corso Campi. The garages located in the basement are accessible via the car lift accessible from the new driveway entrance built along Via Guarneri del Gesù. The intervention is characterized by the creation of an articulated metal structure, placed inside the courtyard in adherence to the walls which characterizes it in a the whole project is significant. For the important Art Nouveau facades, a general cleaning and replacement of the damaged windows and doors with new high-performance windows and doors was carried out. The functional and distributional aspect is limited by the presence of a single staircase placed in a central position which suggests the division of the floor area into a maximum of three residential units. Considering the central position within the historical fabric of the city and the prestigious Art Nouveau facades (as well as the possible presence of garages), the property is clearly suited to hosting large-sized apartments. The internal courtyard, a weak point of the historic building, is completely rethought and enhanced, in order to make it the strong element of the building, the green heart of the luxury residence. A dense forest covering the ground floor and accessible to all residents, visually separates and protects the different properties that overlook the courtyard itself. In order to guarantee privacy also for the apartments on the upper floors, the green mass is ideally elevated by placing a series of trees (Floating Trees) on different levels anchored to the metal cage which becomes the heart of the project. The appropriately oriented windows, the loggias and the balconies are thus immersed in the suspended greenery enjoying a far-reaching view. The two end walls of the courtyard also become the protagonists: the blind wall on the east side is set up with a vertical garden to close the courtyard itself in perspective, while on the opposite side, to cover the stairwell, a screen in polished steel has been raised mirror with a curved shape, capable of reverberating the green image towards the windowed surfaces of the accommodation. Access to the common courtyard is via a landing created inside the existing stairwell, within which the insertion of a new lift is planned. On the first floor, the apartments overlooking the courtyard enjoy large private gardens, accessible from the windows overlooking the dense trees. The identification of a different configuration of part of the property on the façade along Via Guarneri del Gesù suggested the creation of a villa of great appeal developed on several levels, equipped with an independent entrance, stairs and a private lift with direct access to all the floors, the large roof terrace and the private garage. For the apartment located on the fourth floor on the north/east side, it was planned to transform a portion of the flat roof into an enjoyable and panoramic terrace accessible via an internal staircase.
