TT1 was born from the clients’ need for a larger living space that would meet their needs. The apartment, located on the fourth floor of a residential building just steps from Cremona’s historic center, on Viale Trento e Trieste, immediately presented great potential: bright rooms, high ceilings, and generous spaces.
The design project aimed to enhance these qualities, meeting the client’s requests without altering the existing structure, with the exception of creating a large open space in the living area. This is where the bulk of the work was concentrated: the demolition of the walls separating the hallway, kitchen, and living room created a single, airy, and bright space, the hub of domestic life.
In the sleeping area, the layout and dimensions of the bedrooms were maintained, primarily focusing on wall coverings and suspended ceilings to maximize the space. The approach for the bathrooms was different: the fixtures in the secondary bathroom were updated, preserving the original coverings, while the main bathroom was completely redesigned.
To bring unity and coherence to the entire home, the existing floors—all different from one another—were replaced with a seamless Clap wood-effect plank covering, lending a modern and elegant feel. The walls were painted a warm white, enhanced with color accents designed for each room.
The dropped ceilings play a key role, structuring the spaces through varying heights and integrating a custom-designed lighting system. In the living area, a dark dove-gray recess defines the dining area and, thanks to a column rising from the ceiling, visually distinguishes it from the living area, creating a refined interplay of volumes and functions.
